Aman ki Asha? Try #RapePublicDay

While India was celebrating its 66th Republic Day, our neighbours were in severe need of Burnol. The USA has for long been supporting Pakistan through financial aid, and today, when India managed to get Obama to come to India to witness its Republic Day celebrations, there was severe heartburn in store for Pakistanis.

Although our celebration, in no way tried to demean Pakistan, Pakistani Social Media users vented out their pent-up frustration by trending the hash-tag #RapePublicDay. What started off as a hash-tag to highlight India’s problems with women security, soon showed its real agenda i.e. to denigrate India at any costs. Here are few of the tweets with this hashtag:

It soon took Communal colours…

And also some Domestic and International Politics came to the fore:

It is interesting to note, most of the people who used this deplorable Hash-tag, were supporters of Imran Khan, and the idea of “Naya Pakistan”. As Indians, we can surely say “Naya Pakistan” is almost like Purana Pakistan for us!
