Kashi lights up for Dev Deepawali, here are some glimpses

Dev Deepawali, or Kartik Poornima (full moon of the month of Kartik) holds a special significance in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The ghats of Varanasi are light up with thousands of diyas. According to legends, Lord Shiva killed a demon named Tripurasura, who had conquered the whole world and defeated the gods. It is believed that all gods come down to Kashi, the town founded by Lord Shiva, to celebrate Diwali. The energy in Varanasi is so spiritually charged that it takes you to another dimension. Here are some glimpses of celebration from one of the oldest continuously inhabited city of the world.
