Congress office-bearer caught spreading fake ‘survey’ of first phase of Gujarat elections

Congress has tried virtually all stunts possible to get an upper hand in the Gujarat elections. Rahul Gandhi and former PM Manmohan Singh first tried to fool the electorate by repeated lies. The party then tried its hand at Soft-Hindutva with Rahul engaging in a temple run, declaring himself a “Shiva Bhakt” and his cronies declaring him to be a “janeu-dhari” hindu. When all seemed to fail, Congress leaders spread hilarious rumours of EVM hacking. Now it seems the Congress stooges have stooped down to literally manufacturing a fake survey.

BJP spokesperson Suresh Nakhua took to Twitter to expose a calculated move to spread misinformation. Nakhua found that a person by name Rohan Gupta, had shared a survey of the polling done in the first phase of Gujarat, which showed Congress winning 65 seats.

Rohan Gupta is no ordinary twitter user. As per his bio, he is the National Media Coordinator AICC, Chairman GPCC IT Cell. Further, he uses his twitter ID to flaunt his closeness to the soon-to-be President of Congress, Rahul Gandhi:

Next, Nakhua noticed that the name of the site which claims to have carried out this survey in Gujarat, chanakyaindia.in, seemed to be similar to another public opinion polling company “Today’s Chanakya”. When one visits the site, the scene is shocking. This “survey” of Gujarat seems to have been conducted online on that very site, with zero validations on number of votes one can put and since it was open for all, no scientific selection of sample either. Of course the main issue is: How can a survey of a few seats of Gujarat, be open to voting by any person in the entire world?

While the credibility of the so called “survey” was now exposed, Nakhua decided to check who owned the site. He found out that chanakyaindia.in was registered with the email id [email protected]. And this email ID, was also associated with the site gujaratcongress.in.

GujaratCongress.in is the official site of Gujarat Congress. On the verified Twitter page of Gujarat Congress, the link for online registration is a page on GujaratCongress.in.

Further, Gujarat Congress’s official pages on twitter and facebook claim their official site to be GujaratCongress.org, but when one clicks on the URL, it redirects to GujaratCongress.in. It is fair to say, that the site for the fake survey and the Gujarat Congress site, is registered under the same email id: [email protected].

When Nakhua searched for the owner/registrant of the above email id he found out that it was the same Rohan Gupta:

Unisafe.in, the other site registered with the same email ID [email protected], is that of a “direct broker” company named “UNISAFE INSURANCE BROKERS PRIVATE LIMITED”. One of the directors of this company is Rohan Rajkumar Gupta, who is also a Director in other companies like COMET COMMUNICATIONS PRIVATE LIMITED, COMET GLOBAL PRIVATE LIMITED and COMET PERFORMANCE CHEMICALS PRIVATE LIMITED. According to Rohan Gupta’s wikipedia page, Rohan Gupta the Congress office-bearer is the same Rohan Rajkumar Gupta, the director in unisafe.in

To recap: A site publishes a fake survey of Gujarat elections. This survey is shared by National Media Coordinator AICC, Chairman GPCC IT Cell Rohan Gupta. The site is registered with an email ID which is also used to register the official Gujarat Congress site and is also used to register the site of a business concern of the same Rohan Gupta.

Not only is the survey fake and created by Congress stooges itself, there may be questions over its legality as well. As per the EC’s orders, no exit polls can be conducted or published during the period 8.00 am on 09-11-2017 to 5.30 pm on 14-12-2017.

The questions to be asked now are: Was Rohan Gupta acting in his personal capacity or on behalf of the Congress? Is this fake survey supposed to be an exit poll? Will the BJP file a complaint? And will the Election Commission act?
