Tripura: Ahead of Assembly polls, BJP workers attacked by CPM

In poll bound Tripura, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters were allegedly attacked by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) in Chakmanghat area of Teliamura constituency.

Nirmal Paul, a BJP worker, was injured in the alleged attack and is admitted in hospital. Confirming the attack, BJP’s Bikram Debnath said that while they went to have dinner in a restaurant with their candidate for the upcoming elections, they were attacked by at least 15 CPIM workers.

Other incidents of BJP workers allegedly attacked by CPIM workers are also bring reported from other parts of Tripura. Earlier this month, a BJP youth along with 9 other party workers were allegedly attacked by CPIM supporters with sticks and bombs at Ranirbazar, near Agartala.

As Tripura goes to vote tomorrow, CPM is fighting to retain the power, while BJP is leaving no stone unturned to come to power in Tripura. BJP has emerged as a prime challenger to the CPI(M)-led 25-year-old Manik Sarkar government of the state. Before Tripura, Modi dedicated several development projects to the nation in Arunachal Pradesh.
