Dawood Ibrahim’s aide Farooq Takla to be produced before TADA court in connection with the 1993 bomb blast

Dawood Ibrahim’s aide Farooq Takla, against whom a Red Corner Notice was issued in 1995 in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, has been brought to Mumbai after being deported from Dubai.

He had fled after the 1993 blasts and is currently being questioned by the CBI. Takla was wanted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case and he will be produced today before the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) court in Mumbai later in the day. Takla faces criminal conspiracy, murder and terrorist activities according to data on the Interpol website.

As per reports, criminal lawyer Shyam Keswani, who is representing Dawood’s brother Iqbal Kaskar in an extortion case, has said that Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar is also ‘keen to return to India’ if conditions set by him are met by Indian authorities. Conditions include he should be lodged in high-security precincts of Arthur Road Central Jail (ARCJ) in Mumbai and nowhere else during the trial period. Earlier, too, he had tried to negotiate with the government of India through lawyer Ram Jethmalani, but the government had refused to accept his conditions.
