Nehru, Sardar Patel and Maulana Azad are responsible for the partition of India and not Jinnah ‘Sahab’, said Farooq Abdullah, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

Claiming that Jinnah didn’t want a separate country for Muslims, but it happened because Indian leaders refused to accept minority status for Muslims and Sikhs in the country.
Abdullah was addressing Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Jammu Chamber House, where he said that after independence, when the issue of a separate Muslim nation was floated, a commission was set up which recommended instead of splitting up the nation, special rights be given to minorities. Abdullah said, while Jinnah accepted the proposal, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel and Maulana Azad backed off and hence India had to be divided.
He further added that we are still facing the repercussions of the seeds of hatred which were sown then.
