The rape victim’s father was lodged in jail after an alleged clash between the victim’s family and MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s supporters, led by his brother Atul. He had reportedly suffered multiple injuries in the alleged clash and was admitted to a hospital after he complained of abdominal pain and vomiting. He passed away yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday after his death, 2 police officers and 4 constables were suspended. The police have stated that the exact cause of the man’s death is unknown and the autopsy report is yet to come.

The victim and her family members had attempted suicide outside the CM’s residence the day before. According to reports, they were stopped by security personnel before the self-immolation attempt. The victim alleged that she was raped by Kuldeep Sengar and his accomplices last year but even after her complaints, the MLA has escaped justice due to his influence.

The victim also claims that her father was killed at the MLA and his brother’s behest and they have made her life miserable.

A team from the state crime branch apprehended Atul after the DGP Lucknow issued an arrest warrant against him. He has been arrested on charges of assaulting the victim’s father.

The alleged rape case and the subsequent death of the victim’s father have generated a lot of criticism for the government and police. However, Kuldeep Sengar, who met the CM yesterday, has stated that the allegations are baseless and a conspiracy against him. He added that he is ready for any investigation.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath yesterday assured that strict action will be taken in the case and no guilty will be spared.
