Colleague accuses Youth Congress workers of molestation during Kathua and Unnao rape protest

Youth Congress and National Students Union of India (NSUI) workers have been accused of molestation by one of their colleagues, during an Unnao and Kathua rape protest rally in Mumbai on Sunday.

As reported, the woman Congress worker has complained to her party’s Mumbai unit chief Sanjay Nirupam that she was molested by her male colleagues. This protest rally comprised of a candle light march which was organised in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu.

The complainant a Pradesh Congress’ delegate (PCC) from Mumbai Congress’ North Unit sent a text message to Nirupam alleging that the the Youth Congress and NSUI workers stooped to a very low level by touching, pushing and shoving women in an inappropriate manner. This as per her made them feel unsafe in presence of their own Male colleagues.

She claimed that the colleagues did it, so that they could get ahead in the queue and get their faces captured by the media. While reminding Nirupam the nature of the protest, she alleged that the male party workers behaved in a completely uncivilised manner, which put the senior leadership to shame. After sharing the identity of some of the perpetrators, she demanded that action be taken against them.

Nirupam meanwhile has acknowledged receiving the text message and has assured action against those found guilty. After apologising to her for the incident, he also claimed that he would help her file police cases, if she wished so.

He also claimed that henceforth a “Do’s and Don’t” list will be issued, which would need to be followed in future rallies containing women participation.

This molestation charge comes in the light of a journalist alleging being groped and ‘lynched’ during a recent midnight vigil, which was called by Congress President Rahul Gandhi. This vigil also saw Sonia Gandhi’s daughter Priyanka Vadra admonishing rowdy participants for their behaviour.
