As BJP emerges the single largest party in Karnataka, ‘liberal’ Congress loyalists have a meltdown

As the BJP looks all set to take over Karnataka and all previous predictions and analysis of our ‘secular’ ‘liberal’ brigade shatter to dust, social media has become a whirlpool of mixed emotions. While the right-wingers are busy celebrating the win and digging out old tweets of their ideological rivals, liberals are in a weepy mode. And perhaps everyone is wondering what the eventual result would be as Karnataka inches towards a nail-biting finish. We bring some select gems.

‘Activist’ cum fund collector Shehla Rashid recalled her mental state after Uttar Pradesh elections in 2017.

Owner of the AAP centric blog ‘Janta Ka Reporter’, Rifat Jawed, was all humility and acceptance personified.

Rana Ayyub of the Gujrat Files fame, however, should give marketing lessons to all. She never misses a chance to self-promote her work.

Congress has a very loyal fan base. Their loss apparently has nothing to do with past deeds, leadership failures, corruption or any other thing. They are only losing because the entire country is going the wrong way, or so the loyalists think.

For the loyalists, the mandate of the people does not matter, huge polling percentage does not matter, people’s rejection of regionalism and caste politics does not matter. The only thing that matters is Congress.

The results are still coming in. Congress leaders have already started blaming faulty EVMs. Some are blaming the failure on the local level leadership. Hopefully, we will see many more meltdowns before the day is done.
