Lashkar-e-Taiba is using Burhan Wani to radicalize youth, says captured terrorist

According to a news report, a 20-year-old captured LeT operative, Zaibullah alias Hamza revealed that LeT’s (Lashkar- e- Taiba) student cell – Al Muhammadia Students (AMS) has developed a handset meant exclusively for communication between LeT operatives. Zaibullah stated this to the National Investigation Agency during his interrogation.

Zaibullah furthered that upon entering a particular chip into the handset, it automatically connects to the nearest mobile tower, irrespective of the service provider and calls made from this handset cannot be traced by Indian intelligence services. If the agencies try to intercept the calls then, the call will automatically terminate. Zaibullah was caught from Jugdiyal Area in Kupwara on April 7th.

The captured terrorist also revealed that Lashkar-e-Taiba has recruited approximately 450 boys aged between 15-25 years who are being trained by LeT in Pakistan for anti-India activities. These boys are being radicalized in the name of Burhan Wani, Zaibullah added.

Son of a Pakistani Income tax officer, Zaibullah crossed the border to the Indian side on March 2-3 along with five others. All five were neutralized by the Indian Army in a counter-insurgency operation on March 20. Zaibullah sustained a bullet injury to the head that day but managed to escape but was caught 15 days later.

Lashkar and its parent organization Jammat-ud-Dawa (JuD) run an ‘’underground’’ training camp in Maskar Khaibar area in Muzaffarabad forest Area in PoK ‘’exclusively for training the fidayeens (Suicide squads)”. In all, a total of seven camps were named by Zaibullah to the agency, –

  1. Aksa Maskar in Muzaffarabad  (for weapons training, GPS, Surviving training).
  2. Dakhan in Mujaffarabad (for mountain climbing training).
  3. Khalid bin Valeed in Muzaffarabad main city (HQ of LeT, all the supplies to the camps goes from here).
  4. Tabuk in Mansera (meant for basic physical training).
  5. Karachi Food Centre (for supplying food to the launch pads).
  6. Daura-ul-Rizwan in Muridke (for combat and climbing training).
  7. Masha Khaibar (underground training camp exclusively for suicide squads).

Zaibullah who was undergoing training in Dakhan in January 2017 claimed that 26/11 accused Zaki-ul-Rahman Lakhvi and LeT chief Hafiz Saeed stayed with them and motivated them to commit their lives to Jihad. Lakhvi met him in Dakhan while Saeed met the terrorist in Muzaffarabad. His father, the income tax officer was quite excited about the idea of his son becoming a Jihadi and during his training period, His father contributed to the “Jihad Fund” to the tune of Rs 1,000 per month.
