Shashi Tharoor shares fake news from an Islamist website to attack Modi government

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who was earlier spotted spreading fake news of Internet sites being blocked to attack Modi government, yesterday shared another fake news from an Islamist website.

The link Tharoor had shared stated that former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, who is ‘unrecognised by his own country’ has been appointed as Governor of Bank of England (BOE). However, the news story is now deleted by the Islamist website. According to a report published by Bloomberg on 3rd May, Rajan did not appear in the list of contenders. In fact, reports even suggest that Rajan refuted the rumours of him being elected the BOE Governor.

Earlier, too, the Islamist website had written fake news, which was spread by Congress supporter troll, who was also followed by AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal. The report stated fake news which showed BJP government in bad light as 4th most corrupt government.

In both the cases, after being called out on social media, the website, Siasat.com deleted the news item on both the instances. While Tharoor has clarified in subsequent tweet that it was fake news, he has still not deleted the original tweet.
