‘Congress is finished, a man who spent 50 years in Congress visited RSS headquarter’ : Owaisi

Former President Pranab Mukherjee addressed the ‘Tritiya Varsha Sangha Shiksha Varg’ on Thursday. Since his address, a plethora of people have commented on the possible implications of such an address on India and the Indian Society.

On Friday, The AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi took a dig at Congress over Mukherjee’s visit to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur. According to him, this visit by the Congress veteran signifies the end of the Congress Party. Owaisi said that Congress is finished as a man (Pranab Mukherjee) who has spent 50 years in Congress and also the former President of India visited the RSS headquarters. He questioned after this incident how anyone can have any hope from a party such as this. Owaisi was speaking at an event in Hyderabad.

Owaisi brought in the reference of Nathuram Godse in his tirade against the Congress. He said that his visit to the RSS headquarters is against the Congress party’s secular credentials.

He also expressed his reservations about the appreciation shown by Mukherjee to the founder of the RSS, KB Hedgewar. Mukherjee has called Hedgewar ‘ a great son of Mother India’ in his speech at Nagpur.

Owaisi hinted at the need of a third alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party. This proposed coalition of regional parties hopes to put up a fight against the BJP in the coming 2019 general elections. Although, questions as to how this coalition will be formed, who will be the face of this ‘third front’ are yet to be answered.
