Under fire from security forces, Naxals ask locals to choose between joining them and death

In a possible sign of desperation creeping into the left wing terrorists, Naxals have begun threatening locals in Chattisgarh’s Dantewada, to try force one member of each family to join them, ANI has reported. This as per the report has been prompted by the Naxals rapidly seeking to strengthen their organisation in the light of heightened action by security forces.

A local quoted by the report claimed that the Naxals have told them that one member of their family has to join them otherwise they would be killed. This as per the local, has installed fear in them and has rendered them unable to comprehend what to do next.

Deputy Inspector General R L Dangi though has dismissed the news by claiming that he has no information regarding the matter. He claimed that the population of Naxals is declining by the day, owing to which they might be creating psychological pressure among the locals.

Incidentally news of such Naxal desperation comes in the light of some left wing terrorists expressing their intention to go back to their families so that they can lead normal lives. This decision too has been purportedly prompted by the incessant operations of Indian security forces, leading the Naxals to fear for their lives.

As per reports, the decision taken by locals to shun the “red terror” path is also inspired by the development of the region which includes availability of basic facilities like electricity, roads, schools and healthcare.

This development includes the Modi government’s decision to spend Rs 11,000 crore for providing road connectivity to 44 Maoist-affected districts and electrifying, building a bridge delayed by nine years in just 30 days, erecting mobile towers and starting a first express train service the Maoist bastion of Dantewada.

Such measures as almost confirmed above, have dealt a blow to the “state apathy” narrative, used ever so frequently by the left wing terrorists to seek sympathy for their actions.
