Kashmiri separatist Asiya Andrabi sent to 10 day NIA custody for inciting riots and waging war against India

Kashmiri separatist leader Asiya Andrabi has been sent to a 10 day National Investigative Agency (NIA) custody, for waging war against India, Indian Express has reported.

The Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief and her two associates namely Sofi Fehmeeda and Naheeda Nasreen were already lodged in Srinagar Jail from where they were picked up by the NIA. They were lodged there owing to cases filed by the Jammu and Kashmir police.

Following NIA’s involvement in the matter, they were brought to Delhi on a transit remand and then subsequently sent to the 10-day custody of the agency by a special court.

As per the report, this arrest follows the 27 April FIR registered by the NIA, where it accused Andrabi and others of charges like sedition, criminal conspiracy, waging war against the country, inciting riots and promoting enmity between communities. The remand application of the NIA reportedly also accused Andrabi’s organisation of being in touch with Pakistani associates, including terrorists.

As per NIA’s IG Alok Mittal, Andrabi has been accused of using the media to spread hateful speeches which include, call for violence against India, and the secession of Jammu and Kashmir.

A Hindustan Times report has claimed that action against Andrabi was recommended during a security review meeting on 3 March, which was chaired by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. It is claimed that during the meeting, a complete list of prisoners needing to be shifted to other states was prepared. The list included the names of Hurriyat leaders.

One of the examples of Asiya Andrabi’s anti-national activities was reported in March when she hoisted the Pakistani flag at an undisclosed location and reportedly claimed that all Muslims in the Indian subcontinent were Pakistanis by default.

She was also quoted as saying that, people are either Muslims or Kafirs, and a Muslim country is Pakistan which was founded on the basis of Islam and not on the basis of nationality.
