Rahul Gandhi says #IAmCongress, Twitter reminds him what Congress really is

Congress President Rahul Gandhi

Congress President Rahul Gandhi today was his benevolent, wise self on Twitter. He personified Congress and shared a tweet claiming his greatness.

Soon his supporters and Congress leaders started trending the hashtag #IAmCongress. No doubt it was a pre-planned social media propaganda as within no time most Congress leaders active on social media and its social media heads were trending the hashtag.

Soon though, the hashtag became a popular trend on Twitter, but not something that Congress and its supporters would have liked to see. Many Twitter users started recollecting Congress’ deeds over the years.

Congress is the party that helped Warren Anderson leave India after the Bhopal Gas Tragedy.

Congress imposed the emergency and later coined the term Hindu Terror to whitewash crimes of Islamist jihadis.

Congress PM Nehru gave a Bharat Ratna to himself.

With hundreds of reactions pouring in, the PR stunt seems to have backfired. Congress has played bizarre stunts on social media earlier when things did not work out in their favour. It ran a Twitter poll and attempted to ‘win’ it by blocking users en masse. The official Congress handle of @INCIndia is known for frequent goof-ups and shares the fake news. Its IT cell head Divya Spandana was reportedly seen asking workers create multiple accounts and it is believed most of Rahul Gandhi’s followers are bots.
