Two Khalistani terrorists plotting to attack the Parliament, Delhi on high alert : Reports

As per reports, various New Delhi districts have been put under multi-layer security blanket after a specific terror intel received by the intelligence bureau that two Khalistani terrorists are headed towards Delhi in a car with a Uttar Pradesh registration number, carrying a huge cache of explosives to attack the Parliament amidst the ongoing Parliament’s monsoon session.

Reportedly the terrorists -Lakhwinder Singh and Parminder Singh, in their late 40’s, who are travelling from the Nepal border in a white Innova car (UP26 AR 24), are trained in assembling IED’s. The police have been alerted and all efforts are on to nab them.

As reported by Times of India, the intel has been given the highest priority as it came from two sources. Apart from the agency, the same information came from an anonymous caller, who shared it with the Delhi Police. The informer reportedly identified himself as one Iqbal. The number was tracked down to Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand. The alert came at the time when the agencies confirmed that a stolen car or a government vehicle could be used by terrorists in the run-up to the Independence Day celebrations.

As per officials, the two names given by the informer resemble the ones sought out in Nabha jailbreak of Punjab in November 2016. It is being suspected that the two are close aids of Nabha jail escapee and the self-proclaimed chief of the Khalistan Liberation Force, Harminer Singh Mintoo. Police are, however, verifying the same.

The input comes in the wake of several other alerts which suggest that the terrorists part of the Khalistan movement are attempting resurgence, with most of their leaders based in Pakistan, seeking the assistance of the ISI to relaunch the Khalistani ‘movement’.

Very recently the National Investigation Agency had busted a plot to carry out a series of assassinations of several BJP and RSS leaders. The idea was to create communal tension and throw the law and order out of gear and then makes attempts to revive militancy. NIA officials said that the operation was being funded from Canada, Italy, and the UK.

Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi too was assassinated by her bodyguards, who were influenced by the Khalistani cause. The assassination triggered the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The Parliament House too had been attacked once earlier, by Kashmiri separatists, in 2001. One of the terrorists involved in the attack, Afzal Guru, was hanged in 2013. Once again the Parliament is suspected of being targeted as India prepares to celebrate its 71st year of Independence.
