Congress leader tells workers to learn discipline from RSS, days after being assaulted by partymen: Reports

The Congress appears to be stumbling into one controversy after another in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh as a fight broke out between party workers in the state over a chair. The state Congress general secretary-in-charge, Deepak Babaria, then advised his party-men to learn something from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, reports NDTV.

When asked by the media to clarify, Babaria saw no issues with his comments. “Yes, I appreciated the way Pandit Nehru used them during the China war, their discipline. If something is good about any organisation there is no harm in appreciating it,” he is reported to have said.

The comments come only a few days after Babaria was assaulted by party workers during his visit to Rewa, Madhya Pradesh when he was talking to reporters. Reports indicate that he was roughed up by his own party workers because he declared Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia as the only probable Congress candidates for Chief Minister of the state.

We had earlier reported on the growing fissures within the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh. Despite its attempts to project a united front against the Bharatiya Janata Party, the factional divisions within its state unit due to the Chief Ministerial ambitions of senior Congress leaders, Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia, might well prove to be their undoing.
