Man says he’ll help poor instead of killing goat on Bakri Eid, gets abused

One Hussain Nadim, a Sydney based PhD scholar with Pakistani origins, a few days back tweeted how this Bakri Eid, instead of sacrificing a goat, he has installed a water cooler outside his home in Lahore.

He said installing the cooler cost him as much as sacrificing the goat would take. However, his good deed with good intentions didn’t really go down well with fundamentalists. While many people appreciated his gesture, other fundamentalists called him how not killing a goat as a sacrifice, despite doing something for humanity, would still be ‘gunaah’ (sin).

Some even had very useful suggestions on how he could’ve installed cooler next month after he sacrifices goat as ‘farz’ this month for Eid.

And of course, you don’t ‘bend’ the religion as per your convenience.

Of course, he was told not to confuse the ‘farz’ of sacrificing the animal and doing charity for the needy.

And people who themselves may not follow the advices they give are also the ones to dish them out liberally.

And of course, how could you replace Islamic rituals with ‘humanity crap’?
