Child sex crime has become a major scourge with various media houses reporting such news week after week. In one such shocking case reported by Amarujala, two youths belonging to the Muslim community raped a 12-year-old minor girl. The incident occurred in Rohta village in Meerut Tehsil, Uttar Pradesh, where two youths named Salim (26) and Zafar (22), lured a minor girl living in their neighbourhood, who had visited a grocery shop nearby, into a deserted house where they raped her and later fled, leaving her wounded.
As confirmed by police inspector Subhash Atri, the victim’s father suspecting something odd had filed a missing complaint with the police, soon after which the girl managed to somehow escape and return home. The minor narrated what had happened to her parents, which led them to immediately approach the police. Soon after, the police launched a man-hunt and subsequently managed to arrest the two accused in Kanker Khera district.
The police later confirmed that the accused after being arrested were sent for medical examination to CHC hospital which later in its report settled that the two accused were involved in raping the minor girl.
This is, however, one of the many cases which have emerged in the recent past. Apart from the heinous ‘Kathua rape incident’ and the ‘Mandsaur incident‘ which shook the nation, several such cases have been reported. Few of these incidents are listed below:
14th July 2018: The Hindu had reported of a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her boyfriend on the pretext of marriage in Shahdara’s Seemapuri area. The accused who had been arrested was identified as Chand Alam.
14th April 2018: The minor daughter of a riot-affected family was abducted on gunpoint and gang-raped in a Kairana village by 4 youth – Arif, Firoz, Saddam and Raees, Navbharat Times has reported.
24th March 2018: The Hindu reported of a minor who died in Assam’s Nagaon district after she was gang-raped by three – two of them juveniles – and set on fire. The police said the accused – Jakir Hussain, 21, and the two juveniles belonging to the same village of the victim, raped the girl when she was alone at home, doused her with kerosene and set her on fire.
17th January 2018: According to News18, a cleric identified as Maulavi Saber Farooqui, in a Nanded, Aurangabad, madrasa had allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl and molested another minor. The alleged incident occurred at Islamia Arabia seminary located in Deglur Naka area of Nanded where Farooqui allegedly raped the 12-year-old girl after showing her a pornographic clip on his mobile phone and molested another girl (8).
24th December 2017: Yet another shocking case of a minor 8-year-old girl being sexually abused since August by a gang of 6, including 19-year-old Muslim youth Mustafa Abdul Rajaq Mujawar, had come to light from Pune’s Kondhwa area, as reported by Hindu Post.
