“Rahul Gandhi’s Jhalawar rally was a flop”, says senior Youth Congress member

Youth Congress state unit stayed away from Rahul Gandhi's rallies in Rajasthan

Despite an attempt made by Congress party’s senior leaders, including PCC chief Sachin Pilot to make the event historical, their President Rahul Gandhi’s much-hyped rally in Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje’s home turf in Jhalrapatan town of Jhalawar district on Wednesday, followed by a road show in and around the deserted roads of the city, turned out to expose the infighting between the political party’s members.

According to Dr. Nand Singh Rathore, Jhalawar district president of Congress media cell, the internal groupism in the party was evident since ex-MP and state minister Pramod Jain Bhaya was not involved in the rally as well as the road show.

Another Youth Congress worker added, “The distance between state Youth Congress and the Congress in Rajasthan is the biggest reason for our inactivity and disinterest in the events held by Rahul Gandhi in Jhalawar and Kota.”

State youth Congress and other allied outfits of the party reportedly kept away from the programs of Congress president Rahul Gandhi. Even the Youth Congress state president – Ashok Chandana – the only winning candidate of Congress in Hadouti region on a single seat from Hindoli, also stayed away from the party’s president’s event.

“It would not be wrong to say that Rahul Gandhi’s Jhalawar rally was a flop show. It failed to draw the crowd’s attention entirely,” said a senior Youth Congress member, who wished to be quoted anonymously.

“His rallies in other parts of the state in the recent past drew the crowd in lakhs, but in Jhalwar, the gathering failed to maintain that status,” added another Youth Congress member.

Only 15,000 to 20,000 people were present at the event, wherein one-fourth of the space was simply lying vacant, during the Jhalrapatan rally.

As the BJP rightly mentioned in a recent report, Gandhi seems to hardly know anything about Rajasthan, the problems of the people and what the government has been doing for them.
