Navjot Sidhu has ‘damaged vocal cords’, advised complete rest

Recently, it was reported that the Punjab cabinet was considering demanding Sidhu's resignation after the controversy over his trip to Pakistan.

After an extensive 17-day election campaign where Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, reportedly addressed more than 70 back to back public meetings, it has been now reported that Sidhu has damaged his vocal cords and is currently undergoing treatment for the same.

As per reports, the doctors have told him that he was on the brink of losing his voice and has been advised complete rest for the next 3 to 5 days.

As per sources, the Congress leader has gone off to an undisclosed location for complete rest and treatment. He is being administered specialised medications along with exercises and physiotherapy.

Earlier too, Sidhu suffered from DVT and went through an embolism treatment, as it was reported that extensive travelling had proved detrimental for his health.

Recently the Congress leader has been surrounded by immense controversies due to his activities and statements regarding his bonhomie with Pakistani politicians and leaders.

Sidhu had stoked a controversy by hugging Pakistani army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa during his Islamabad visit to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Imran Khan. The entire controversy over the Kartarpur corridor followed, with Navjot Singh Sindhu being over-enthusiastic about the entire episode. Sidhu, on his trip to Pakistan this time, was heavily criticised by Captain Amarinder Singh, the Chief Minister of Punjab who had declined the invite to travel. In the face of that criticism, Sidhu was heard saying that he went because Rahul Gandhi wanted him to travel. In fact, a video surfaced where he also spoke about Rahul Gandhi providing Sidhu with a special plane so he could travel to Pakistan on time.

Above all this, Sidhu became the focus of attention when he was spotted posing with a Khalistani separatist Gopal Singh Chawla during his Pakistan visit.

Recently, CNN-News 18 had reported, quoting Congress sources, that the Punjab cabinet was considering demanding Sidhu’s resignation after the controversy over his trip to Pakistan. The news channel said the Punjab cabinet was scheduled to meet on Saturday, and the ministers could bring up the subject of Sidhu’s resignation.
