A woman has accused Congress MLA and Nawalgarh constituency candidate for upcoming elections in Rajasthan, Dr Rajkumar Sharma of harassment and stalking her. As per an FIR filed with the police, the woman has accused him of calling her to his Bajaj Nagar home and tried to sexually assault her.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the woman describes her ordeal. She has accused Sharma of harassing her over the years and making life difficult for her.
She has accused him of stalking and taking advantage of his social and political standing to destroy her career. She explains she had topped her class during her MA, following which she did her M. Phil and is now studying Ph. D. She alleges that despite that, Sharma, using his political muscle, does not let her work get published. “He does not let me go anywhere from Nawalgarh. Despite studying so much, I have been sitting at home since last two years,” she says.
She alleges that he took to liking her, and even though he is a married man with two kids, that has not stopped him from doing this injustice to her. She has reached out to the public through her video or she would have to kill herself over the harassment. Urging people to not vote for him in the upcoming elections, she says that he has caused not just her but many people to leave Nawalgarh.
She concludes the video by taking a vow of celibacy and sanyas for the rest of her life.
Another viral video
In another video, she could be seen sitting on a dharna against the alleged harassment. An audio recording between the woman and Sharma has also gone viral where Sharma has claimed that he does not even know her.
Sharma could be heard asking the woman not to contact him again. She could be heard apologising and asking him to move on. He further says that she is like his daughter and talks to her only because he knows her father.
It is also reported that Sharma has said that the woman has put these allegations on him on behest of her father, who is a district level BJP leader. However, the woman has clarified she did so because she is terrified and scared with all that has been done to her.
She alleges that he keeps torturing her and when he called her to record the above call, he referred to her as ‘beta’ only so he could continue with his social standing.
Her father, Mahesh Chodhuri (Sharma) said that the MLA had been after his daughter for the past two years and had even deployed goons behind her and hopes that now the administration will ensure her safety and security.
