Muslim BJP MLC Bukkal Nawab reads Hanuman Chalisa at a Hanuman temple built by his father

Bukkal Nawab who joined BJP in 2017, had also shown support for building a Ram temple at Ayodhya for which a fatwa was issued against by Darul Uloom Deoband.

BJP MLC from Uttar Pradesh Bukkal Nawab, who had earlier said that Lord Hanuman a Muslim, read Hanuman Chalisa today in an old Hanuman temple at Kudiyaghat which was built by his late father Dara Nawab 25 years ago. In an event organised by the National Shia Society in the temple, Nawab read Hanuman Chalisa in the memory of his father.

Joining the debate over the caste of Lord Hanuman, Nawab had made headlines by claiming that Lord Hanuman was actually a Muslim. He said that Muslim names like Rehman, Ramjan, Farman etc are inspired by Lord Hanuman’s name. This was followed by some people claiming that Hanuman ji was a Jaat considering his nature while others called him a Jain.

Nawab, who was earlier in Samajwadi Party, was ostracised from Islam by Darul Uloom Deoband after he offered prayers at a Hanuman temple in Lucknow. He had also gifted a brass bell at the temple located in Hazratganj area in the city. He claims that he is Muslim as well a devotee of Lord Hanuman and believes that Lord Ram was our ancestor.

Nawab has also shown his support for Ram temple and had even gifted a gold crown worth Rs 10 lakhs to the temple. A fatwa was issued against by Deoband for showing support for Ram temple.
