After Mamata Banerjee took a U-turn and decided not to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new union government, chief ministers of Kerala, Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will also not attend the ceremony.

According to media reports, the Congress chief ministers of Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have also decided against attending the program in Delhi tomorrow. This means Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh and Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel will not be present in Rashtrapati Bhavan tomorrow to witness the oath-taking ceremony of the new union government.

Although Mamata Banerjee had given a reason for not attending the ceremony, no reason was given by other CMs for the decision.
The BJP had earlier invited the kins of over 50 BJP workers who have lost their lives due to the political violence in West Bengal for the Prime Minister’s swearing-in ceremony.
After hearing this news, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who had earlier planned to attend the swearing-in ceremony had reversed her decision claiming that there was no violence in the state. She has decided not to attend the ceremony in protest against BJP’s claim.
In her statement, she had claimed that political murders of 54 BJP party workers, as claimed by the BJP was untrue. She even goes on to say that the deaths may have occurred due to personal enmity, family quarrels and other disputes.
The new Modi government will take oath at 7 PM tomorrow at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. All prominent opposition leaders, chief ministers, governors, former prime ministers and presidents have been invited for the ceremony. Leaders of the BIMSTEC nations also have been invited. After therse CMs from opposition parties declining to accept the invitation, all eyes will be now on other CMs from opposition parties, especially Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
