Following the gruesome murder of two-and-a-half-years-old Tina (name changed) in Aligarh’s Tappal, the Uttar Pradesh Police has set up a special investigative team (SIT) to probe the murder.

As per the Police, the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act will also be there in the case. According to DG (Law & Order) Anand Kumar, Aligarh SSP has set up an SIT to fast-track the case and ensure that the culprits are brought to justice. He added that investigation is proceeding on the basis of scientific evidence.

He further added that two main culprits based on the statements of the parents have been arrested and action has been taken against the concerned SHO for delinquency. He further added that any other police personnel found guilty of any negligence will be taken to task.

We had earlier reported how efforts were being made to whitewash the crimes of the accused, Zahid and Aslam, by claiming that the child was not raped despite the fact that the post-mortem report has been inconclusive. Now, with the POCSO Act also to be included in the case, one can say that the angle of sexual abuse and rape cannot be definitely ruled out in this case.

Moreover, after the DG’s remarks on action being taken against the police officials for negligence goes on to show that the police statement cannot be taken as an ultimate truth, especially when scientific evidence points other way.
