Another ‘hate crime’ bites the dust: Muslim inmate in Tihar branded himself with ‘Om’ symbol with help from associate

In April, a Muslim inmate at Tihar jail, Nabbir, had claimed that he was branded with the ‘Om’ symbol on his back by the jail superintendent. He had also claimed that the authorities had forced him to fast during Navratri and he had been thrashed. He had made these allegations in front of the Metropolitan Magistrate Richar Parihar who ordered a probe into the entire matter.

The probe has now been completed and a report has been submitted to the court. According to the report that has been submitted, the inmate had levelled “False allegations” against the authorities. He was branded with the symbol by his own associate.

The Indian Express was told by unnamed sources that the investigative team under a DIG-rank officer had scanned CCTV footage from Jail No. 4 where Nabbir was lodged at. A senior is reported to have said, “During the investigation, it was found that he appeared before the superintendent in his office on April 12, but left within minutes. Security personnel conducted his frisking when he was leaving, but he had not complained of any pain when they touched him.”

After April 12, he was also reportedly seen playing Badminton within the jail premises which should not have been possible given the injury. “The inquiry team met some of his associates and came to know he had allegedly taken help from one of them,” an official was quoted as saying. Nabbir has been imprisoned for the past 15 months and a case is registered against him under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and Arms Act.

Reports have stated that Nabbir had made false claims to implicate the jail superintendent and pressurise the jail authorities.

With this, another ‘hate crime’ has bitten the dust. The narrative was peddled by the likes of politicians such as Asaduddin Owaisi whose brother is known to make incendiary remarks against Hindus.

A series of so-called ‘hate crimes’ have been found to be the attempts by people to further the Muslim-victimhood narrative. Only recently, the much talked about Gurugram ‘hate crime’ incident turned out to be another incident where a fake narrative was cooked up to brand Hindus as aggressors and Muslims as innocent victims. The Police even said that Barkat Alam, the alleged victim, may have been tutored to give the supposed crime a communal angle.

In another instance, a road-rage incident was given a communal spin by India Times. Then, there was the case of the law student from Meerut who had claimed that she was targeted by fellow students and harassed due to her religion. Her victim narrative was busted by her own classmates who confirmed that nothing of the sort had happened. She never even showed up for the inquiry set up by college authorities on the matter. It was eventually closed due to her non-participation.

While such fake ‘hate crimes’ against Muslims are propped up and widely discussed to shame the Hindu community, actual hate crimes against Hindus are quietly ignored. Actual mob violence perpetrated by members of the minority community is often ignored as well while the secular camp is too busy discussing ‘hate crimes’ which eventually turn out to be bogus.
