Clashes erupt between the BJP and TMC, BJP holds Mamata Banerjee responsible for death of BJP party workers

Saturday evening clashes erupted between the BJP and TMC in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district leaving workers of both parties injured. The clashes broke out over tthe removal of party flags in Basirhat’s Sandeshkhali. BJP leader Mukul Roy held Mamata Banerjee responsible for the deaths of BJP party workers, he said that the TMC was indulging in a reign of terror.

Mukul Roy tweeted last night that he would be reaching Union Home Minister Amit Shah to apprise of the Sandeshkhali killings.

Sources in the BJP have said that a total of five party workers have been killed in the clashes and several others are seriously injured. The names of the deceased are as given below:

  1. Prodip Mondal, aged 36 years s/o Uday Mondal – Mondal Party President
  2. Sukanta Mondal, aged 28 years s/o Late Shakti Pramukh
  3. Tapan Mondal, aged 25 years s/o of Barun Mondal
  4. Devbrata Mondal
  5. Shankar Mondal aged 30 years s/o Uday Mondal

A BJP delegation led by party leader Mukul Roy would leave for Sandeshkhali from the airport today at 11 AM. The delegation would comprise of Mukul Roy, General Secretary Sayantan Basu, MP Locket Chatterjee, MP Jagannath Sarkar, MP Shantanu Thakur, MP Arjun Singh and MLA Dulal Bar.

On the other hand, the TMC leader in charge of North 24 Pargana district blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party for the death of TMC worker Qayum Mollah. He was taken to the Minakha Gramin Hospital seriously injured and later succumbed to injuries.

The TMC is known for its violent political tactics in West Bengal. Yesterday, a BJP victory procession turned violent after TMC party workers disrupted the procession. On May 30th, a TMC worker has allegedly stabbed a BJP worker for chanting Jai Shri Ram.
