Congress dissolves all district committees of the party in Uttar Pradesh

Congress had performed miserably in Uttar Pradesh in recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, bagging only 1 seat out of the total 80 Lok Sabha constituencies

Following a disastrous Lok Sabha elections, especially in the state of Uttar Pradesh, where it could manage to win only 1 seat out of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats and lost deposits on 63 seats out of 67 seats contested, the Congress party has approved the proposal tendered by General Secretaries to immediately dissolve all District Committees of Uttar Pradesh.

AICC press release

As per a press release issued by AICC, a two-member team will be deputed to oversee the election preparations and management in all Vidhan Sabha constituencies in East and West Uttar Pradesh where by-elections are to take place.

It further suggests constituting of a three-member Disciplinary Committee to investigate complaints of gross indiscipline during the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

AICC has vested powers with Ajay Kumar Lallu, the leader of CLP, to make organisational changes in East Uttar Pradesh for a specified period during which changes will be carried out. The in-charge of West Uttar Pradesh is to be decided later by Jyotiraditya Scindia, the General Secretary in-charge of West Uttar Pradesh. It may be noted that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is the General Secretary for UP East.

Earlier, Congress leaders were found squabbling after a review meeting held to determine the causes of the poll rout in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. Congress leaders had then alleged that the Party leadership took the decisions unilaterally without consulting with the grassroots leaders.
