The Kerala police have denied receiving any intelligence pertaining to terror attacks in Kochi, Kerala by the Islamic State (ISIS), reports India Today. TK Vinodkumar, the state police intelligence chief, said, “We have no such information. It may be out of misinformation feed to the media”.

Today, several local television channels flashed the news that the Kerala police had received intelligence reports indicating an upcoming ISIS attack in Kochi. Reports claimed that the police had received letters which say that the Islamic State (ISIS) is planning to carry out attacks in a popular shopping mall in Kochi.

Kerala has been on high alert ever since the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka. In April, an arrested ISIS terrorist from Kasargod admitted to planning Sri Lanka style attacks in Kerala. Last month, the Kerala coast was on high alert after receiving intelligence of that boats allegedly carrying 15 ISIS terrorists had set off from Sri Lanka and were headed towards the Lakshadweep islands. Earlier this month, a Kerala ISIS leader was killed by US bombings in Afghanistan.
