Madhya Pradesh: NSCB Medical College staff drags patient to X-ray room on a bedsheet

"Three persons have been suspended by the administration. An inquiry is underway and action will be taken against all found guilty," the Dean, Dr Saxena told reporters in Jabalpur.

A shocking video has surfaced in which the staff at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (NSCB) Medical College in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, was caught on camera dragging a patient to the X-Ray room on a bed sheet.

After the incident caught public attention, the Dean of the college, Dr Navneet Saxena said three people were suspended after the incident adding that an inquiry has been launched in the matter after which action will be taken against those found guilty.

“Three persons have been suspended by the administration. An inquiry is underway and action will be taken against all found guilty,” Dr Saxena told reporters in Jabalpur.

However, this is not the first incident throwing light on the government hospital’s apathy towards its patients. Recently, reports on the outbreak of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur had also revealed the unpreparedness and the apathy of the government and the hospitals falling under them in tackling the epidemic which consumed the lives of over 200 children in Bihar.

Recently, a JDU MLA had exposed the government’s callousness and negligence when it came to dealing with the recent crisis in the state of Bihar.

Apart from the government’s callousness, the pathetic conditions of the government hospitals also came in the forefront. Several skeletal remains had been unearthed behind the hospital premises of SKMC Hospital in Muzaffarpur, drawing serious concerns over the management issues and lackadaisical approach of healthcare authorities of Muzaffarpur’s biggest hospital.

The hospital and Bihar’s health system at large were constantly criticised in the media over the lack of adequate medical facilities, the filth on the premises, the dilapidated conditions of the hospital and unavailability of doctors.
