Expressing his happiness over being back at his radio show ‘Mann Ki Bhat’, PM Modi said that he was eagerly waiting to address the people again. The prime minister also expressed his delight to connect with the people again.

Addressing the nation, PM Modi said, “I have been missing Mann Ki Baat. This Sunday has made me wait so much. This programme personifies the New India Spirit. In this programme is the spirit of the strengths of 130 crores Indian.”

Talking about our democratic spirit, PM Modi remembered the greats who fought the Emergency. PM Modi in his speech recounted the horrors of emergency when it was imposed on the country and spoke about how the country fought back for the rights of its citizens. “Democracy is a part of our culture and ethos,” said the Prime Minister.

He further emphasised on the importance of democracy and hailed the great democratic values of India. Speaking about the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, he said, “In the 2019 Lok Sabha Election, India saw over 61 crore voters exercising their franchise. It was the largest democratic election ever held in the world.”

In his speech, PM Modi remembered Hindi writer Munshi Premchand and his stories, mentioned that the characters in his stories embodied the values of the country.

“Sometime back, someone presented me with a collection of short stories of the great Premchand. I once again got an opportunity to revisit those stories. The human element and compassion stand out in his words,” said PM Modi.

Highlighting the critical issues of a severe water crisis in the country, PM Modi said that he had received a lot of letters regarding the issue over the last few months. PM Modi said that he was happy to see greater awareness of water conservation.

PM Modi said that he wrote a letter to Gram Pradhans on the importance of water conservation and how to take steps to create awareness on the subject across rural India

“In different parts, different methods may be adopted but the aim is the same – to conserve every drop of water. Let us conserve every drop of water,” said PM Modi.

The Prime Minister made three requests to the fellow countrymen by appealing to all Indians, including eminent people from all walks of life to create awareness on water conservation. Secondly, he asked people to share knowledge of traditional methods of water conservation. Lastly, he urged people to share details about individuals or NGOs working on water.

In his address, the Prime Minister also mentioned the successful observance of the International Day of Yoga on June 21 this year. “The 5th Yoga Day was marked with immense enthusiasm across the world,” said PM Modi.

In his maiden address after being re-elected, Prime Minister Modi spoke about critical issues like India’s strength as a democratic nation and environmental issues like water scarcity, which has become one of the biggest challenges that the country is facing today.

Interestingly, in his speech, Prime Minister Modi chose to ignore false narratives of the “liberal-secular” media, which often tries to create disharmony in the society by deliberately communalizing trivial crimes.

In fact, PM Modi also stayed away from mentioning the recent controversy regarding the USA’s controversial religious freedom report, which had deliberately maligned the present Modi government over alleged crimes against minorities. PM Modi ignoring to speak about these concerted campaigns to undermine an elected government indicates that the government may have now understood the real agenda behind publishing these reports and has instead chosen to ignore them for good.
