Son of Kerala CPM chief booked in rape and cheating case by Mumbai police

Binoy maintained a relationship with the woman promising to marry her, hiding that he already has a family

Binoy Vinodini Balakrishnan, son of CPM Kerala chief Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, was booked in a rape case over a complaint filed by a 33 year old woman. Mumbai Police registered a case against Binoy after the woman alleged that he had raped her repeatedly over a decade under the pretext of marrying her.

According the complaint filed by the woman, she met Binoy in while she was working as a bar dancer in Dubai. Binoy used to frequently visit the bar as he was in Dubai where he runs a construction firm. Following this, the woman got into a relationship with her. According to her, later Binoy asked her to leave the job and move with him to Mumbai. In 2010 he had rented a house for her in suburban Andheri in Mumbai, and had promised to marry her. He used to regularly visit the flat, and they had a son in the same year.

But he had hidden the fact from her that he was already married, and had a family in Kerala. Why the woman kept asking for marriage and also wanted to meet the family of Binoy, he kept resisting this. But last year the woman came to know that Binoy was already married and he has two children in Kerala. She confronted him with these facts, and this resulted in the relationship turning sour. The woman also alleged that after this he had threatened her with dire consequences if she complaints with police, therefore she didn’t come forward earlier.

Based on the complaint, the son of the CPM leader has been booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 420 (cheating) and 376 (rape). The case has been registered at the Oshiwara police station.

Binoy Balakrishnan has refuted the allegations, saying that the woman is trying to blackmail him. He accepted that he knows the woman, but said that she had for ₹5 crore from him around six months ago.
