Former West Indian pacer and now a cricket commentator, Ian Bishop rates Bumrah as the best bowler of World Cup. Even though Bumrah is not in the list of top 3 wicket-takers of the tournament, Bisoph thinks he has been brilliant.

Talking to ICC, Ian Bishop said, “The wickets don’t show how valuable he has been. The likes of Starc have more, but Bumrah’s been brilliant.”

Ian Bishop also explained Bumrah’s action, which is quite unusual and has helped him to confuse the batsmen. Bumrah is ranked number one in ICC ODI Rankings.

“Everything is interesting. Most fast-bowling scientists – not that I’m one of them – say that your ball speed is 60% run-up and the pace of it – but his is an ambling one, and the ball comes at 140kph and higher. It’s very unusual; it’s hard to decipher where the speed comes from. He releases the ball slightly inside the perpendicular, at his highest point, and his bowling arm comes down between his leg rather than past his left hip.”

Since Bumrah has made his international debut, he has become India’s most valuable player. His accurate bowling also helped other bowlers to grab a wicket or two from the opposite end. He is the second fastest Indian to take 100 ODI wickets.
