Two brothers of slain rifleman Aurangzeb, who was abducted and killed by terrorists in June last year, has joined the Indian Armed Forces. His two brothers- Mohammad Tariq and Mohammad Shabbir have both joined the Infantry battalion of the Territorial Army.

Mohammad Hanif, Aurangzeb’s father said that he will dedicate all his 6 sons to the service of the Indian Armed Forces. “My two sons have joined the battalion of the Territorial Army. When Aurangzeb was martyred, I had declared that I will dedicate all my 6 sons to the forces. My these two sons will avenge the death of their brother.”

Mohammad Hanif was a former sepoy of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry. Before the Lok Sabha polls, he joined the BJP but his decision to send his sons in the armed forces is not influenced by his political preference.

One of the brothers, Mohammad Tariq said, “I am proud of joining and being associated with the Indian Army. After we finish our training, we will fight to end terrorism and avenge our brother’s death.”

Raaj Begum, mother of martyred rifleman Aurangzeb’s mother said, “We are apprehensive about our sons joining the Armed Forces but they were determined to join the Army and serve for the nation.”

Their eldest son, Mohammad Qasim has completed 12 years into his service and is currently stationed in Kashmir.

Rifleman Aurangzeb, who had planned to celebrate the festival of Eid with his family in June last year in Poonch, had been travelling in a car of a civilian to catch a bus from Pulwama bus stand. The terrorists intercepted the car a few kilometres before the bus stand, kidnapped Aurangzeb and killed him. A massive search operation was launched to locate the whereabouts of the abducted rifleman. However, his body was found 10 KMs away from the abduction site, at Kalapora, in Pulwama district, riddled with bullets in his neck and head.
