AAP MLA and aide beaten up with slippers during raid on ration shops after being caught allegedly for demanding bribes

A complaint has been filed by Pankaj Pushkar against the people who assaulted him.

A video has surfaced in which AAP MLA Pankaj Pushkar and his aide are seen being assaulted by a group of people led by a lady on the road in Timarpur’s Nehru Vihar area in New Delhi on Saturday. A lady can be seen hitting the MLA and alleging that the MLA was asking for a bribe.

In the video, a person can be heard saying, “Vidhayak ji rishwat lete hue pakde gayen, unke saath mein jo the ……(unclear) mang rahen the”. Roughly translated as (The MLA was caught asking for a ransom, his aides we also asking for …. audio unclear) Meanwhile, a lady can also be heard saying “chor saale”.

The MLA, Pankaj Pushkar who represents the Timarpur Assembly constituency and his officer-in-charge were allegedly attacked during a raid conducted by a team led by Delhi Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain on two ration shops.

The video was shared by Akali Dal MLA, Manjinder Singh Sirsa who alleged that the AAP lawmaker was assaulted as he was asking for ransom from the ration shopkeepers.

During a press release, the AAP MLA said, “The incident took place at around 11.30 am when Delhi Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain raided two ration shops in the locality.”

“After the team found discrepancies in the ration shop records, the owner and the family members of the shop recklessly beat up MLA Pankaj Pushkar and his office in-charge Devesh Kumar,” the lawmaker added in the release.

A complaint has been filed by Pankaj Pushkar against the people who assaulted him.

This is not the first time an AAP member has been beaten up or assaulted by a mob. The party supremo himself was assaulted on May 4, 2019, by a person in Delhi’s Moti Nagar area during his election roadshow for the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. However, later it was revealed that the assaulter was an AAP supporter.

In 2014, too, Kejriwal was attacked several times when he was campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections.

A few months ago, Kejriwal was attacked with chilli powder. However, the lawyer of the accused person had stated that the attack was orchestrated by AAP leaders. Recently, rumour had surfaced on social media that Arvind Kejriwal has been beaten up by his own MLAs in his residence.
