The Indian Cricket Team will wear black arm-bands on the third day of its test match against West Indies to mourn the passing of former Union Finance Minister of India, Arun Jaitley.
Jaitley was the President of the Delhi District Cricket Association and has been the Vice-President of BCCI. The BCCI had earlier expressed its condolences at the leader’s untimely demise.
Various other personalities from the cricketing community have expressed their grief as well. Commentator Harsha Bhogle and cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin expressed their sadness at the passing away of the politician who was known to be a lover of cricket.
Veterans of the game such as Anil Kumble and Yuvraj Singh also expressed their condolences on social media as well.
The Indian Cricket Team is currently playing a test series at the Caribbean islands. India scored 297 runs in its first innings while West Indies finished at the score of 189 for the loss of 8 wickets at the end of day 2. This is the first test in the two-match series.
