More embarrassment for Congress govt in MP: Power cut during press conference of Energy Minister

In a huge embarrassment for the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh, the press conference of State Energy Minister Priyavrat Singh at the party office in Bhopal suffered a power cut.

Ironically, the power tripped the moment the energy minister was saying that power cuts and trip faults have been stopped in the state. The press conference was organised to inform about the Congress government’s achievements in the power sector in the last eight months after coming to power. The interaction with the press was held at state Congress headquarters ‘Indira Bhawan’.

When asked about the cut, the minister alleged that it was a conspiracy, as the power was restored in a minute. He said that if it was a genuine power cut, it would not have come back so soon.

Incidentally, this isn’t the first time that a senior Minister in the Madhya Pradesh government had been left embarrassed due to power cuts. On a previous occasion, it was Chief Minister Kamal Nath himself. When he had gone to cast his vote in the Lok Sabha elections, the power supply had tripped and he along with his family had to cast their votes using flashlights of the mobile phones of the media persons.

Madhya Pradesh has been suffering from incessant power cuts and unscheduled power cuts ever since the Congress government came to power. Kamal Nath has been conveniently trying to shift blame to the erstwhile BJP government and various other things.

Kamal Nath had resorted to publishing advertisements in local newspapers indirectly blaming the BJP for creating problems which are leading to these power cuts. In June, officers in the Kamal Nath government had claimed that bats, the tiny flying mammals, were responsible for the state’s power supply crisis.
