Police Complaint filed against Anurag Kashyap for hurting religious sentiments in season 2 of Sacred Games

Delhi BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga has filed a police complaint against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap for allegedly insulting religious sentiments of the Sikh community in the second season of the web series ‘Sacred Games’ on Netflix.

In his complaint, Bagga has alleged that, “In the said Web-Series, the Accused has intentionally and deliberately depicted a Scene in which a character belonging to the Sikh community (played by Actor Saif Ali Khan) removes his Kada and throws it away in a disrespectful and insulting manner.”

He added, “The Accused abovenamed has deliberately and intentionally depicted the aforesaid Scene in his abovementioned Web-Series with the sole intention of insulting and outraging religious feelings of people belonging to the Sikh community, to promote disharmony, enmity, hatred and ill-will between different religious groups, to provoke of peace by giving provocation and to severely insult the religious beliefs of Sikhs.”

Akali Dal MLA Manjinder S Sirsa has also objected to the scene, demanding it to be removed. He also has filed a criminal complaint against Anurag Kashyap for hurting religious sentiments and faiths of people and creating disharmony in the society is a criminal offence.

A Kada is a bangle which considered to be sacred by the Sikh community and is treated to be utmost respect. Bagga has urged the Police to register an FIR against Kashyap at the earlier under relevant sections of the IPC and “take most stringent penal action” against the Director.
