A Christian priest was arrested in Gurdaspur, Punjab on charges of intimidating a minor and raping her. Parvej, son of Prem Masiha, was produced in a local court which remanded him to 14-day judicial custody.

As per reports, the victim’s mother said in her complaint that her 13-year-old daughter, a student of class 9, had left home for school yesterday but did not return home after the school time was over. It was found that she had even reached school in the morning, and the police were informed immediately. The Police started investigating the matter as soon as they received the complaint.

During the course of the investigation, the Police came to suspect Parvej, as his behaviour was found to be suspicious. He knows the family and often visits their house.

When the Police raided the Church, Parvej denied that there was any girl at the place. However, when the priest’s residence was raided, the Police found the victim hidden under the bed. After this, the priest was arrested and a case was registered against.

“On the basis of the complaint, police raided the house of the accused priest and recovered the minor girl under suspicious circumstances,” the SHO at Bhaini Mian Khan police station said. Parvej has been charged with kidnapping and rape.
