Ayodhya land dispute litigant Iqbal Ansari says shooter Vartika Singh misbehaved and attacked him

Ayodhya land dispute litigant, Iqbal Ansari has levelled serious allegations against International shooter Vartika Singh. Ansari has alleged that Singh attacked him in his house in Ayodhya on Tuesday where the two, and her male associate, had met to discuss the Ram temple issue.

Singh allegedly kicked off a discussion on triple talaq and Ayodhya, and within minutes grew violent, the litigant claimed in his police complaint. However, as per reports, Vartika Singh has alleged that Ansari, during the discussions, invoked ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans and used abusive language for PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. She also accused Ansari of misbehaving with her during the discussions and said, “This led to the incident.”

However, before the situation could take an ugly turn, Ansari’s security guards intervened and handled the situation. Ansari did not sustain any injuries in the alleged attack.

On the basis of an alert sounded by Ansari’s family, the police from the Ram Janmabhoomi police station reached the spot and took Singh and her associate into custody. “Vartika Singh has been detained. We are investigating the case,” said Vijay Pal Singh, superintendent of police, Ayodhya.

According to the police, Singh accused Ansari of being a hindrance in the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. She first asked him to withdraw his petition from the Supreme Court and then attacked him.

The Constitution of Bench in the Supreme Court on Wednesday also agreed to look into the matter after it was brought to the attention of the CJI-led bench by Senior Advocate Rajeev Dhavan, who is appearing for the Sunni Waqf Board in the case.

Interestingly, Dhavan is the same advocate who had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking action for criminal contempt against a Chennai-based professor, N Shanmugham, who had ‘cursed’ him for appearing for Muslim parties in Ayodhya hearing.
