Popularly hailed as the Tiger of Bengal, Sourav Ganguly today took over as the 39th President of the BCCI. Addressing his first press conference after being appointed as the President, Ganguly assured that the new management will have a conversation with Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli to ensure that the team becomes the best in the world.

The former Indian cricket team captain asserted that he would run the BCCI in the same manner as he led the Indian cricket team. “No compromise on credibility, corruption-free and same for all BCCI, just as I led India,” Ganguly said.

“He is the most important man in Indian cricket, I will have a word with him. We will support him in every way to make sure Indian becomes the best team in the world. Yes, they haven’t won a World Cup yet, but we don’t win the World Cup every time. We will ensure Indian cricket goes smoothly. We will have to sit with him and see what he wants for Test centres,” Ganguly said.

Yesterday, after winning the test match in Ranchi, Kohli said that he had congratulated Sourav Ganguly on being elected as the BCCI President and hailed the outcome as “great” for the Indian cricket. He also informed the press that he had a discussion with Ganguly about the world cup winning former captain MS Dhoni’s future in the International cricket.

However, when the newly appointed BCCI president was about the rumours surrounding the future of former captain MS Dhoni, he quipped, “Champions don’t finish very quickly. Till I am around, everybody will be respected,” Ganguly said.
