Ram Janmabhoomi case: Muslim parties ask SC to ‘keep future in mind’ while delivering Ayodhya verdict, make last effort to influence

"When moulding the relief, this Court must also consider how future generations will view this verdict", the statement said.

In a last-ditch effort to influence the decision in favour of Babri Masjid in the Ram Janmabhoomi, Ayodhya case, the Muslim parties have submitted a ‘Statement of moulding the relief’ to the Supreme Court.

The Statement of Moulding which is essentially a statement of ad-hominems make appeals that the ‘secular-liberals’ of the country, who often bow down to Islamism, have been making for long.

The statement says:

“Since the judgement of this Court will have far-reaching implications, it is for the Court to consider the consequences of its historic judgement by moulding the relief in a fashion that will reflect the constitutional values that this great nation espouses. We hope that the Court, in moulding the relief, upholds our multi-religious and multicultural values in resolving the issues confronting it. Moulding the relief is the responsibility of this Court, which itself is the sentinel of our Constitution”.

Further, the statement says:

“When moulding the relief, this Court must also consider how future generations will view this verdict”.

Essentially, the Muslim parties are trying to say that allowing a Ram Mandir to built on the Ram Janmabhoomi where a temple was destroyed by Islamic invaders to build a masjid will be akin to breaching constitutional values and the multiculturalism of the country. They are also implying that ‘future generations’ may see the deliverance of justice as a disservice.

The centuries-old Ram Janmabhoomi conflict seems to draw to a close. The Ram Janmabhoomi verdict is expected to be pronounced any day between 14th and 16th November 2019. On October 16th 2019, a report was leaked to the media that contained some of the details of the mediation panel report that was submitted to the Supreme Court in a sealed cover. It was reported that the Sunni Waqf Board was willing to give up its claim on the Ram Janmabhoomi land under three conditions.

One of the conditions that were reportedly mentioned in the mediation report was that the status quo of all other structures would be maintained if the Muslims gave up claim on Ram Janmabhoomi. Essentially, the Sunni Waqf Board wanted that the Hindus must give up their long-standing claims on Kashi and Mathura where the Gyan Vapi and the Shahi Idgah at Mathura had been constructed over Hindu temples.

The Muslim parties had then come out and strongly rejected the leaked details of the Mediation report and said that the Muslim parties are not willing to give up their claim on the Ram Janmabhoomi.
