Minor girl who was raped and set ablaze in UP 9 days ago succumbs to her injuries in Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital

The minor girl was raped by her neighbor named Zeeshan when she was alone at her house, After that, he had poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.

Battling for her life after she was brutally raped and then burnt alive by her neighbor, the minor girl from Nakhasa in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh succumbed to her injuries today morning. The 16-year-old girl was being treated at Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital after she sustained 70% burn injury. Sambhal ASP ASP AK Jaiswal informed about the girl’s death while talking to media today.


On 21st November, the minor girl was raped by her neighbor named Zeeshan when she was alone at her house. After that, he had poured kerosene on her and set her on fire when she told him that she will approach the police to lodge a complaint against him. The girl was rushed to the district hospital from where she was referred to Safdarjung hospital in Delhi.

Police had arrested Zeeshan soon after the incident, and a case was registered against him on the complaint of the family of the girl. Cases under sections section 376 (rape), section 307 (attempt to murder), section 452 (trespassing), section 506 (criminal intimidation) under IPC were registered against the man. ASP Jaiswal informed today that now NSA will also be slapped on the accused, and strict actions will be taken against him. He also said that the case will be sent to a fast track court.

He informed that the body of the girl will be handed over to the family after post mortem is done, and the family will be provided financial assistance from woman and child welfare trust.
