Dr Nimrita Chandani murdered after being raped, reveals final autopsy of Hindu girl who was found dead in Pakistan

The final autopsy of Dr Nimrita Kumari Chandani revealed that she was murdered after being raped in her hostel room in September 2019. According to Pakistani media reports, the post-mortem report issued by Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Woman Medico-Legal Officer (WMLO) Dr Amrita on Wednesday revealed that she died of suffocation as asphyxial signs caused by a ligature on the neck were seen.

The WMLO in her report said the ligature marks on Dr Nimrita’s body are produced either in strangulation or hanging, which could be determined according to circumstantial evidence. Earlier report had shown presence of male DNA on her body and clothes. Previously, the college authorities had denied any foul play in her death. Masood Bangash, who is a senior police officer in Larkana district said that the forensic laboratory has issued the DNA report of Nimrita and the same will be produced before the court of law.

Hindu student Nimrita Chandani, a final year BDS student in the Bibi Asifa Dental College of Larkana, Pakistan was found dead in her room in September. She was found lying on a cot with a rope tied around her neck while her room was locked from inside. The college administration tried to pass it as suicide. However, the evidence points in the other direction. There were signs that she struggled to save her life. Her phone also went missing which was later recovered by the police.

Following the incident, the Sindh High Court on September 25 had ordered a judicial inquiry into it as her family alleged that she may have been murdered.
