Trouble for Shiv Sena? NCP demands Maharashtra Chief Minister’s post for 2.5 years, Deputy CM for Ajit Pawar: Report

Uddhav Thackeray is expected to take oath as Chief Minister of the 1st of December. Ajit Pawar is a very likely candidate for the post of Deputy Chief Minister.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is demanding the Chief Minister’s seat for two and a half years from Shiv Sena as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, Times Now has reported. It’s also demanding the Deputy Chief Minister’s post for Ajit Pawar who had quit only yesterday as the Deputy CM with Devendra Fadnavis as Chief Minister.

Now that the Shiv Sena has irreparably broken its ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party, it’s only natural that the NCP is trying to extract maximum leverage from the Shiv Sena. Furthermore, NCP has only two MLAs less than the Shiv Sena in the Assembly. Therefore, it’s not bewildering that the NCP wants a share in the Chief Minister’s seat as well.

We had reported earlier that the Congress party had agreed to give up on the Speaker’s Chair and content itself with 13 ministerial berths. Therefore, it appears likely that the Speaker of the Assembly will be from the NCP as well. All this while, Sanjay Raut is dreaming of a situation where Shiv Sena’s ‘Suryayaan’ lands in Delhi. Meanwhile, it’s not even a guarantee that they will have a Chief Minister for the full five-year term in Maharashtra.

Uddhav Thackeray is expected to take oath as Chief Minister of the 1st of December. Ajit Pawar is a very likely candidate for the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
