Pragya Thakur sits on dharna outside police station demanding FIR against Congress MLA for threating to burn her, returns without success

BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur sat on a dharna last night outside a police station in Bhopal demanding to register an FIR against Congress Govardhan Dangi, but later returned without success. The controversial leader had approached the Kamla Nehru police station in Madhya Pradesh capital demanding that the Congress legislator should be booked for threating to burn her.

On November 29, the Congress MLA from Biaora had said, “We will not just burn her effigy, if she sets foot here, we will burn her also.” He had said that after Pragya Thakur had remarked in parliament that Nathuram Godse was a patriot. Sadhvi Pragya Thakur’s response in Lok Sabha came after DMK member A Raja had cited a statement of Godse on why he killed MK Gandhi during a discussion on the Special Protection Group (Amendment) Bill. Responding to Raja, Thakur had reportedly interrupted to say, “You cannot give the example of a deshbhakt.”

Her comment had caused a huge uproar, and later she had apologised for the same in Lok Sabha. Govardhan Dangi had also apologised for threating to burn the BJP MP, she thinks it is not enough and a case should be registered against him. She had approached the Kamla Nehru police station to register an FIR, but the police refused to do so. She said she was waiting at the police station for two hours but the police were not ready to file a complaint against the Congress MLA.

After that, she sat on a dharna outside the police station. But she later ended her dharna without registering a case, saying that she will approach higher authorities for the same. She said that the police refused to file an FIR due to pressure from the Congress party. According to reports, she was asked by state BJP leaders to end her protest.
