Two suicide bombers detonate themselves in busy Baghdad market killing six, injuring dozens

While no one has claimed responsibility of the attack yet, reports suggest it could be Islamic State.

At least two (some reports suggest three) explosions heard at Tayaran Square in Baghdad, Iraq.

The blasts have left at least three dead and 16 wounded, local media reports. As per AFP, this was one of the rare suicide attacks in Central Baghdad. As per reports, the suicide attacker detonated a vest with explosives in the market.

Here is a visual of second blast caught on camera.

As per reports, the toll could rise as those wounded are critical.

Earlier in 2018, a suicide attack in same market had left 35 people dead. While no one has claimed responsibility of the attack yet, reports suggest it could be Islamic State.

According to Interior Minister’s statement, the first suicide bomber rushed into the market claiming to be sick. When people gathered around, he blew himself up. The second bomber detonated himself when people rushed in to help those who were injured in first blast.

Note: The report has been updated with latest information.
