In Chennai, a gruesome murder of a woman came to light when neighbours noticed foul smell coming from a locked flat in the Thirumullaivoyal area. The bodies of a 37-year-old woman named Cynthia and her father Samuel Shankar (78) were discovered when the police entered. After the investigation, the police arrested Samuel Ebenezer Sampath (34), a Homoeopath from Austria.
Samuel reportedly practised Homoeopathy in Austria. He met Cynthia through social media and came to India in September 2024 to live with her. They had moved to the flat of Cynthia’s father Samuel Shankar because the old man had kidney problems and needed regular dialysis. When Cynthia’s father died of kidney failure Cynthia reportedly started fighting with Samuel Ebenezer, blaming him for not helping enough.
In a fit of rage, Samuel Ebenezer pushed Cynthia who fell down and died. Samuel Ebenezer then sprayed some unknown chemical on both the dead bodies, switched on the AC units in the flat, locked it from outside and fled. He even left the city and started living with his relatives in Kancheepuram. Cynthia’s neighbour’s did not find the running ACs suspicious because the apartment already has too many outdoor units. But in the last couple of weeks, the decomposed bodies started to smell, which alerted the neighbours.
