Chhattisgarh: 12 Naxalites killed in an encounter in Bijapur

On Sunday, February 9, Security Forces neutralised 12 Naxalites in an encounter in Bijapur. 2 security officials also lost their lives during the fight with the naxals.

Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) P Sundarraj said the two sides had an encounter when a police team was conducting a search in the National Park jungles having received a tip off about the  presence of naxals there.

The two security personnel who lost their lives in the encounter, one belonged to the Chhattisgarh state police’s District Reserve Guard, and the other was from the Special Task Force. Meanwhile, two others suffered injuries during the firefight with the naxals.

This comes amidst a strict crackdown on left wing terrorism in India’s Naxal infected areas.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to recover the bodies of the deceased security personnel from the encounter zone.
