The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returned to power in Delhi after a gap of 27 years following a historic win in the capital. Following the victory, swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister is likely to be held after February 13, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return from the US.
PM Modi will be on a US visit on February 12-February 13. This will be his first meeting with US President Donald Trump following Trump’s re-election.
BJP won 48 seats in the 70 member assembly defeating incumbent Aam Aadmi Party comprehensively. AAP got routed in the election with even its chief Arvind Kejriwal losing his seat to BJP candidate Parvesh Verma.
Following the victory, BJP is yet to announce who will be the new Chief Minister. Notably, BJP went into the elections without a Chief Ministerial face.
